Henry Waxman (D-Beverly Hills) and Rep. Edward Markey (D-Mass.) released a 648-page draft bill for rationing energy use in the United States yesterday. According to the Competitive Enterprise Institute:
As Nevada County struggles to recover our local economy and focus on jump starting our tourism, gasoline rationing could kill the program before it even gets off the ground. I remember during WWII when the neighbors got together to see if they had enough rationing coupons to buy sugar, so they could make blackberry jam. Mother nature has provided the blackberries, but the government was controlling the sugar. No sugar, no jam!
Families considering a drive to Nevada City may have to pool their carbon credit coupons. Not enough gas rationing coupons, no fun trip, no economic recovery.
