In the 1950s I lived in the Salmon-Challis National Forest, the first time from 1948 to 1952 and the second time from 1956 to 1957 and have visted it many times in the 1980s and 2000s. It is not a National PARK, thought some of the environmentalist would like to treat is as though it were a National Park. It is a National Forest with a multi-use mission.
Here is a Fox News Video where they keep refering to Salmon-Challis National Forest as a park. It is NOT a Park! If the environmentalist get to ban ATV, then motor bilkes will be next, then pack horses, and then only day hikers will be able to use the forest. Some might remember the environmentalist tried to ban pack horses from the Tahoe National Forest, the day hikers got tired of stepping over the horse turds on the trail.
I wrote about the new Forest Service Planning Rule that could restrict your future access to the National Forest here .
H/T to regular reader for this video link. I watched the Fox News Presentation live and was concerned about the references to a park.
