I know it is not politically correct, but we went shopping at the new Cabela's Store in Boomtown, near Reno. We have been shopping Cabela's Catalog for years, now they have opened a store at Boomtown. On a cross county trip to Boston eight years ago we were in hurry and passed up a visit to the mother story on Sterling Nebraska. Something we have always regretted.
A visit to Cabela's is a real family experience with huge aquarium of native fish, African and North American diorama with animals in their native habitat. If you are strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment, stop by the Gun Library. We had heard the average time customer spend in the store is about three hours, checking out the bargains. We were right on track, spending just five minutes less than the average and we even skipped the fishing and boating section. It was a beautiful drive over the pass, lots of sun and snow covered mountains. We ran into some late afternoon traffic congestion on I-80, as ski buffs head home, but not a big deal once we got to SR-20. I will post some pictures in an update.
UPDATE: Here are two promised pictures, take by my wife, friend, and companion who remembers to take her camera and to take pictures. However, we both forgot to capture the huge aquarium the size of our den. One more reason to return to Boomtown.
