Ellen and I have been living on Banner Mountain since the early 1980s, first clearing a space on our 3 acre for the house, which took several weekends. After we built the house, we still had a rural jungle of manzanita, firs, pines, black berries and some thing we called buck brush covering all most 2 acres in front of the house. In 1988 we hired a contractor to dig up the brush and I cut down all the little trees. All this was before digital cameras, so we do not have any pictures. Ten years later the jungle returned. Here are two pictures of our current rural jungle.
We need to do something to once again to clear the land to reduce the
fire danger. We were introduced to All Phase Land Clearing at the
County Fair and hired them to do a little brush clearing for about five
hour. Here are some after pictures from the same perspective.
As always, crap can happen. Hidden in the brush was roll of chain link
fencing and friend had give me and I had forgotten about. It got
wrapped up in the paws of the masticator. Here is a picture of Troy
Sidebottom and his helper cutting out the chain link fencing from the
maws of the masticator.
With a little more work we will soon return to the park like setting we had in 1988.
