The FUE reports:
The Sierra Business Council said Wednesday it supported the California Air Resource’s Board’s updated economic analysis of AB 32, AKA “the global warming solutions act.” CARB’s report is here.
At the Council, implementing energy-efficiency programs to comply with AB 32 has already created nine jobs, and is on track to create three more jobs and 10 temporary jobs in the next six months, said President Steve Frisch.
OK, my question is how many of these jobs are the result of subsidies and how long will they last once the subsidies are expended, and not replaced with more subsidy money from the citizens of Iowa?
“We believe that our region’s economy and environment depend upon strong implementation of California’s Global Warming Solutions Act,” said Frisch of the Sierra Business Council. “That’s why we’re pleased that the Air Resources Board’s new economic analysis is consistent with all the other credible analyses showing AB 32’s overwhelming benefits.”
What overwhelming benefits? These benefits projections were the result of computer models. Models that are subject to the input parameters of the programmer. Garbage in-Garbage out. Six economist that reviewed the CARB projections found them to be unreliable and unsupportable by reality. There is a new economic report issued yesterday (23rd) that needs to be examined in detail. Initial analysis of the Appendix indicated the models used have some serious flaws, more on the model deficiencies in a future post.
“The Sierra Business Council is committed to cleaning up the emissions that contribute to climate change and its related consequences like a shrinking snowpack and diminishing water supplies. We understand very well how climate change can devastate our ski industry, which generates $500 million in annual revenue.
Right, the current snow pack is 107 115 percent of normal and at this time last year was only 80 of normal, and it is still snowing the Sierra. While this snow pack does not wipe out three years of drought, drought is not a function of temperature, it is a function of moisture. During the Dalton Minimum California was 4 degrees cooler than it is today and there was a 13 year drought. Steve, drought is caused by the reduction of moisture, not increased temperatures. Get real! Get with the science and put your politics in the closet. CARB regulations are based on scientific fraud.
Helping business and home owners save energy is a admirable goal and one that I support. But, lets do it to save money and allow business to prosper. Please be real, the jobs this activity has created will be gone once all the businesses and homes are warm and snug, safe from the coming cold. We are on the cusp of the next Grand Minima. Staying warm is going to be very important. I thank you for helping businesses and home owners prepare for the coming cold and bitter weather.“To do our part, we’re offering free energy audits and low-cost retrofits to commercial PG&E customers and we’re helping local governments conduct greenhouse gas inventories and develop climate pollution reduction plans.
“We’re excited about helping regional businesses save money on their energy bills, and we look forward to developing a clean energy workforce that provides jobs and livelihoods for our region’s citizens.”
