Underscoring the depth of the Great Recession in California, taxable sales declined 15 percent in the third quarter of 2009 when compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the state Board of Equalization reported Wednesday. However, the decline was not quite as steep as the previous quarter, when taxable sales dropped 19 percent on a year-over-year basis. (Click for larger image.)
More details here. Placer County where a lot of Nevada County shops was only down 12.7% The one highlight in the numbers was Colusa County, their taxable sales increased 31.3 percent. Our local government leaders might want to check and see what Colusa county is doing right to boost their sales.
