We have heard the claims from Steve Frisch at the Sierra Business Council that the salvation of California economy will be green jobs. Really? Consider this admission in a Sac Bee article on Prop 23 and AB32.
Daniel Kammen, director of the University of California, Berkeley's Renewable and Appropriate Energy Laboratory, recently examined the hiring plans at 200 of the larger clean tech companies in California. His conclusion: AB 32 will create the equivalent of 1,000 to 3,600 permanent jobs each year.
Let see, California has lost 2.3 million jobs since the depression started in 2008. At 3,600 new green jobs a year, it will only take 638 years for California’s economy to recover.
Exit question: Who will be around to celebrate the event?
