Carol M. Browner, the White House coordinator for energy and climate change policy will be leaving the Obama administration. Officials confirmed Monday night that she will be leaving her post as Director of Climate Policy shortly. The real question? Is this a sign the administration is tempering Obams ambitious climate change goals in the face of new Republican strength in Congress? According to the White House no decision has been made on whether she would be replaced or if the position would simply disappear.
Stay tuned, there is more to this story yet to be made public. Her departure was reported by Politico.
Update (01-25-11, 21:15) Now the other shoe has been dropped by Alan Caruba at ICECAP:
Whatever reason will be put forth for her leaving, the real reason is her justified concern that she will be summoned before a congressional committee to explain why, for example, she deliberately misled Americans during the BP oil spill, going on national television to say that most of the oil was gone. She cited a White House commission created to investigate the spill, implying that the scientist’s report had confirmed the need for a moratorium on oil drilling in the Gulf when, in fact, they had not supported it.
Global warming or climate change was not mentioned in the Presidents' speech, however he talk about clean energy.
