If PG&E does not get our power back on by 8:30 tonight we will not be able to participe in the Earth Hour like we did last year. Rather than turn off our lights, we tuned them all on. Details on the nutty Earth Hour concept is here. On Banner Mountain Earth Hour is 8:30-9:30PM Saturday March 26th. In the USA time zones: Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific, Alaska, and Hawaii, It will happen in that 8:30-9:30PM local time in each timezone.
Ross McKitrick a professor of economics at the University of Guelph in Canada, and one of the investigators who exposed Mann's Hockey Stick, has some thoughts on why he will be leaving his lights on in a Vancouver Sun article: Earth Hour: Why I will leave my lights on He writes:
I abhor Earth Hour. Abundant, cheap electricity has been the greatest source of human liberation in the 20th century. Every material social advance in the 20th century depended on the proliferation of inexpensive and reliable electricity.
