Electric vehicles are not selling up to the expectations of manufactures, as early adopters face the challenge of finding charging stations. To help these early adopter find the limited number of charging stations, Google is doing it’s bit to help EV users to track down the nearest station via Google Maps.
The Google data is primarily from the U.S. Department of Energy's (DoE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL),data base which is search-able, but now EV users can now use a Google Maps Search to find nearly 7,000 alternative fueling stations in the U.S., including 600 Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE). A search for “EV stations near Nevada County CA” produced this result:
We seem to be missing some EV stations, but I understand that one is planned for the Holiday Inn Express in Grass Valley. This and other existing stations should to be added to the NREL Data Base as they come on line. Maybe the new Nevada County Tourism Website should include the locations of EV charging stations. Maybe we need more charging stations in the County.
