What’s wrong with California? And what’s right with Texas?
Businesses seem to be bailing on the Golden State and flooding into the Lone Star State, according to an annual study by an Irvine, Calif., business relocations specialist. Joe Vranich has found four times more companies leaving California than his 2009 list, the Orange County Register reported.
ooo
In fact, Texas is the top inbound state for this seeming California exodus. We will welcome 33 of the 89 businesses leaving California, according to Vranich’s list.
Some speculate taxes are pushing businesses from California, and that certainly could be drawing them to Texas, where we enjoy one of the most business-friendly tax environments in the nation. . . .
ooo
Texas topped a 2010 list of business friendly states by CNBC, generating the highest score in the history of the study. The study looked at cost of doing business, quality of life, business friendliness, education, economy and more.
The real questions is, will anyone at the California Legislature and the Governor listen to Assemblyman Logue, when he returns from his fact finding trip to Texas? I have serious doubts that they will take notice. Once addicted to spending, they will continue to spend until the citizens of California rise up and demand change, 2012 is just around the cornor. Right now, the most powerful business recruiting tool that Texas Economic Development Commission has is our own Legislature and Governor.
