If you take a serious look at Nevada County's economy it looks like a three legged stool, with one leg being tourism. We can argue about what the other two legs of the stool should be, but right now our local economy depends heavily on tourism. Tourist come to Nevada County for some good food, wine, art, and fun when they have a few discretionary dollars in their pocket. Take away those discretionary dollars with rising fuel prices and local tourism takes a big hit.
