Prop 23 Update: Solar Wobble to Prolong Global Cooling

I have written many times about the religious belief in AGW and how it would blind political leaders and policy makers into preparing for global warming, when is was really global cooling that we should be worrying about.  AB32 is perfect example of what happens when religion trumps true science.

John Sullivan writing a Suite 101 has the details about the "wobble" in a article titled;  Top Scientist Says new Solar Wobble to Prolong Global Cooling.

As a new solar minimum takes our planet towards global cooling an increasing number of scientists give credence to a new theory blaming our Sun's wobble.

It started in 2007 when scientists saw that gravitational forces in our solar system may have a huge impact on Earth's climate. Professor Ivanka Charvátová, CSc. from the Geophysical Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences, explains why there is suddenly so much interest in her theory in an exclusive interview with klimatskeptik.cz.

Professor Charvátová calls it Solar Inertial Motion (SIM) and she claims it will have serious impacts on our climate. She says a predictable "wobble" of our Sun called barycenter shift alters Earth's weather patterns. Few climatologists have yet studied this phenomenon. But the evidence supporting Professor Charvátová's SIM theory is becoming ever more compelling.

I have been following the Dalton Minimum (1790 to 1830) for several years and the possibility that we maybe returning to similar patterns over the next 20 years.

The infamous year of 1816 was beset with powerful changes in magnetism, major volcanic eruptions, and the wobbling of the Sun's position. It is believed that the coincidence of those powerful forces of nature propelled our planet into the widespread famine, drought, and destructive snows and rains that so many historians documented. Only recently have scientists thought to make the link with those correllated climatic events and solar "wobble" and come up with the SIM theory.

Snow in Truckee this weekend?

There is a lot of Global Warming on the ground through out the west.  A guest post on Watts Up With That has a rundown on the the western snow pack.  "May snow depths are deeper than anything we have seen in the last 45 years" in the Tetons. Here is a link to a report on the Washington/Cascade Snow Pack.

 Is snow in May at Lake Tahoe unusual?   Looking at the 107 year record it snowed an inch or more in May 44 years out of 107, or 41 percent of the time. The average depth is 3.7 inches, how ever there were some block buster springs:
1912 - 20 in 
1933 - 16.5 in
1950 - 21 in
1953 - 16 in
1964 - 33.5 in
1977 - 16.5 in

Here are the latest plots of fuel prices in the County, State and Nation. Note that Nevada County Diesel prices are not following the national and state trend, I wonder why Robinson’s diesel prices are staying almost flat?

“Households spent an average of $369 on gas last month. In April 2009, they spent just $201. Families now spend more filling up than they spend on cars, clothes or recreation. Last year, they spent less on gasoline than each of those things. . . . Only twice before have Americans spent this much of their income on gas. In 1981, after the last oil crisis, Americans spent 8.8 percent of household income on gas. In July 2008, when oil price spiked, they spent 10.2 percent. Average hourly earnings, meanwhile, have risen just 1.9 percent in the past year. That’s only just enough to keep up with inflation.” And only if the measure of “inflation” doesn’t include gas prices.

Tens of thousands of prisoners are scheduled to be released by a U.S. Supreme Court order in California. Why? When we pay among the highest sales, income, and gas taxes in the nation, yet we are incapable of housing our criminals. What is the problem? Too many criminals? Too few new prisons? Too high costs per prisoner? Too many non-violent crimes that warrant incarceration? Too many criminal rights liberals? What?

What are we to do when these criminals are released on the street? Every man, woman and child in California can be in danger from these criminals. If you do not own a gun, now is the time to think about owning one. When seconds count, the cops are still minutes away.

If your are uncomfortable with a gun, visit your local range and ask to take the gun safety course, and they will help you select the gun that is right for you and your family. In Nevada County The Range does a great job helping men and women learn how to operate and shoot a weapon of your choice. For some the home protection weapon of choice is a 12 gage pump shot gun.

Vets, might want to use the Shooting Range at Beale AFB, the membership is very affordable and the staff is very friendly. They are qualified gun dealers and have loaners for you to tryout. 

It is your house and your family. How are you planning to protect them?  Cities and Counties are laying off police officers, some cutting their police forces by half. It is time to support the Second Amendment, as those very same politicians that are incapable of building the needed prisons, are passing legislation to restrict your gun ownership.  You and your family are in danger!

New Jersey announces intent to pull out of RGGI cap and trade.

In a press conference moments ago in Trenton, Gov. Christie announced his support for repealing the state’s cap-and-trade law and withdrawing from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), a 10-state regional compact in the Northeast that implements a cap-and-trade energy tax scheme from Maine to Maryland.

“It’s a failure,” Christie said today. “RGGI has not changed behavior and it does not reduce emissions.”

I wrote before that New Hampshire, Maine and New Jersey were planning on getting out of the RGG Initiative and now New Jersey is well on the way.

Cap and Trade has been tried  in New England and the European Union and it has failed repeatedly to reduce emissions, while increasing energy costs.

HR 1540 - National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012: NO.

I have one over-riding objection to this measure, which authorizes the Defense budget for the coming year: Section 1034 of the bill provides an unconstitutional and open-ended delegation of authority to the President to initiate hostilities with any country he alone determines is “associated” with al-Qaeda or the Taliban. The Constitution is explicit that only Congress has the authority to declare war, and the American Founders were quite clear that so monumental a decision should be reserved to the representatives of all the people and never left to a single individual.

Barack Obama Snubs British Scientists by Refusing to Receive Royal Society Medal

Barack Obama has snubbed Britain’s most eminent scientists by refusing to attend a Royal Society banquet in his honour at which he was to be awarded with a prestigious medal.

The US President rejected the invitation from the world-leading group of scientists and instead chose to visit a south London state school. Sources close to the state visit said members of the Royal Society were “deeply offended” by the snub and had accused Mr Obama of being obsessed with his “street cred”.

The US President was offered the chance to receive the King Charles II medal, which is awarded in “exceptional circumstances” to heads of state who have “made an outstanding contribution to furthering scientific research in their country”.

The honour was to be conferred on the US President at a dinner where he would be introduced to “some of Britain’s brightest and best young scientists” as well as some of the society’s most prestigious fellows.

But Mr Obama’s aides responded to the invitation with a “very short” note in which they said the president would rather spend time at a south London state school

Think about the danger to the President's political credibility if one of those bright young minds were to ask the President about his contribution to science and there was no teleprompter with a reasonable answer. By the way, what was the Presidents contribution to science, he is canceling NASA program, he is promoting science crap at the EPA, what was his contribution?

California loses 70,600 financial jobs in 10 years, Texas gains 47,200

The Sacramento Business Journal has the details in a story on the financial sector from 2001 to the present. Financial sector employment in 21 states has improved, while 29 states have fewer financial jobs than 10 years ago, with California at the bottom of the list.

California lost 70,6000 financial sector jobs in 10 years, according to an On Numbers analysis of new federal data. The second largest drop was in New York, with 64,400 jobs lost.

Texas is enjoying the sharpest upswing — its financial sector contained 622,900 jobs last month, which was 47,200 above the corresponding figure for April 2001.

North Carolina was second with a 10-year gain of 16,100 financial jobs. The only other states to post five-figure increases were Arizona (up 10,500 financial jobs in a decade) and South Carolina (up 10,000).

The Business Journal links to a data base with a state-by-state breakdown of the latest figures from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

While the states Democrat leaders are claiming that California is recovering,  the numbers indicate the recovery is taking place else where.

No know water risk from fracking - EPA's Lisa Jackson

We have been having an on going discussion here on the threat of fracking to surface water after the movie Gasland tried to convince the public that fracking was responsible for threatening farmers and ranchers water supplies.  At the U.S. House Oversight Committee hearing yesterday, President Barack Obama’s EPA administrator, Lisa Jackson, admitted the environmental risk of hydraulic fracturing is practically nonexistent.

“I’m not aware of any proven case where the fracking process itself has affected water, although there are investigations ongoing,” she said.



Sen. James Inhofe, ranking member on the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, commended Jackson’s honesty and pointed out that ". . . States are regulating hydraulic fracturing effectively and efficiently, and there is no need for the federal government to step in"

California Now a Zombie State

Spotted this in the CA Political News this morning

Dan Walters comments on California’s current economic plight:

California Lutheran University’s William Watkins … describes California as “something like a zombie state, not quite dead, but certainly not vigorous, moving but with no clear direction,” and says he expects that “the state’s long-term economic structure will continue to slip away from vitality and growth.”

California is in a deep Depression as these number demonstrate.

"In actual percentages, the CA unemployment rate is a full 3.3% higher than the average for the other 49 states.  In terms of percentage difference, that makes CA unemployment on average 38.4% higher than the other states."

We the voters have created this mess! We continue to select tax and spend leaders, Democrat and Republican. Leaders that never saw a regulatons that they did not like, making Calififornia an anti-business state.
