Several readers have written asking about May temperatures, and the month is not over yet.

Southern California is setting record lows:
- 17 May 11 - Long Beach Airport bottomed out at 49 degrees, breaking the 50-degree record set in 1964, according to the National Weather Service. UCLA recorded a low of 47 degrees, breaking the old record of 48 degrees set in 1953.
- At 42 degrees, Lancaster tied a record set 1955, while Big Bear dropped to 25 degrees, breaking the previous record of 26 degrees set in 1995.
- In Ventura County, Camarillo dropped to 42 degrees, breaking the previous record of 43, a record that has stood since 1955.
