Tea Party Patriots -- Not a political party, but a state of mind

Our local left is "going postal" as the local Tea Party gains recognition in the community. The TPP was the largest group in the 4th of July Parade.  The Tea Party Patriots are holding monthly events, including dinners, luncheons, free movies on critical issues, holding idea exchange forums, hosted a County Fair Booth, and are developing a strong presence on Facebook. They are every where, including attending BOS meetings and meeting one-on-one with Supervisors, City Council members and our local newspaper Publisher.

For some reason, the left is upset by this expanding visibility of the Tea Party Patriots in our community.  They keep posting about polling information reported to show declining interest in the Tea Party and what they stand for:

• Fiscal Responsibility

• Limited Government

• Free Markets

• Respect for our Constitution and Bill of Rights

• A government that respects and answers to the people.

I am not buying those polls. These cored values are a state of mind that is shared by many people in our community. Look at the high fives, raised arm and smiles when the Tea Party marched by hundreds of spectators during the 4th of July Parade.  While these observers were not parading down the street, they indicated they share the same state of mind as those Tea Party Patriot who were marching. 

Many local and regional citizens stopped by the Tea party Fair Booth to let those in the booth know that they also share the Tea Party’s core values of fiscal responsibility, limited government, free markets and respect for our Constitution. Many are joining the growing ranks of the local TPP Chapter.

I am having trouble understanding how our local left can be against these core values. The seem to want larger, fiscally irresponsible, socialist government, that trashes the Constitution. And, are willing to trash anyone that supports these Tea Party core values, as demonstrated by our local lefty bloggers.

Gold, Gold, Gold, I tell you there is Gold in them there hills!

The local left is once again all a twitter about the possibility that those evil capitalist and job creators, are raping the land by mining for gold, ignoring the fact that Mother Nature put those precious metals there for humans to find and use. More details here.

The left always wants to know what Congressman McClintock and State Assemblyman Logue are doing to create jobs in Nevada County. However,  when these two leaders support gold mining, which creates jobs, the left starts damning these leaders for supporting mining. 

Consider this from Gold Pan of California: 

Tom McClintock (R-CA) is mad as hell and wants Governor Brown's assistance to squash 2 paragraphs of impending legislation which, if enacted, will kill the California suction gold mining industry.

In a terse written communication yesterday to Governor Brown, McClintock stated "Destroying 4,000 jobs when California is suffering from 11.9 percent unemployment is simply insane."

McClintock is referring to a bogus $1.8 million "budget deficit" which was supplied by anti-mining foes in order to provide a "cut" to the budget of the Department of Fish and Game, who oversees the suction dredge gold mining program. Although erroneous, passage of the language will close the industry forever in California.

Consider this from a local lefty blog on the Idaho Maryland Mine summer PR campaign.

I wonder if this is one of the “facts” you might hear: “The project has strong public support,” according to the mine’s website. “The City of Grass Valley completed an independent survey where 72 percent of residents supported the project, 16 percent were undecided and 12 percent opposed it.”

It’s going to be a tough row to hoe coming to the “truth” about the proposed project with unqualified statements like that. I wonder if “truth serum” is handed out at the booth. No counter argument or facts, just casting doubt on the facts presented. 

And, then there is this:  Dan Logue and Tea Party are teaming up to support gold mining at the 16 to 1 Mine in an upcoming meeting on June 29th, Esterly Hall, 336 Crown Point Plaza, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Original 16 to One Mine

The Original 16 to One Mine in Alleghany is about an hours drive from Nevada City, and is the last operating gold mine in Northern California. It was incorporated 1911 and has been in operation since 1896.

Several weeks ago, I got a call from Mike Miller, President of the Original 16 to One Mine asking if we could help him with some serious problems he was having with our State government. The California Regional Water Control Board has been suing the mine over the quality of the water that the mine releases and runs into the nearby Kanaka River. This suit has been going on for at least ten years. Mike has reams of documents that show that his water is as clean as any water in Kanaka Creek and beyond. But, government agencies, run by bureaucrats, just keep forcing the mine to spend money on lawsuits that they cannot afford. They are now down to 3 employees instead of the 15 that they need. This is part of a story about government overreach and the power they exert on us and our economy.
After I called Assemblyman Dan Logue, he immediately called Mike to discuss the problem. Then he had a meeting with Mike in Sacramento so they could discuss how to proceed. Assemblyman Logue has taken up the 16 to One Mine issue, and he will tell us what he and his staff are trying to do to help his constituents.

The California Redistricting Commission will hold a meeting in Auburn on the 19th of May 2011 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at 175 Fulweiler Avenue, Auburn. (Goverment Buildings, not Cemetary at same address)

Stan Meckler, Nevada County Tea Party Patriots writes:

Apparently the liberals are out in droves to these meetings and are influencing the decision makers. It would be very important to have our side (conservatives) there as well.
 
We've attended over 40 hours of Sacramento hearings, made 15 public comments (against Q2 and for Rose Institute, against Gibson Dunn and for Neilsen Merksamer, etc.) and attended seminars taught by progressives for progressives to keep tabs on them.
 
The California Conservative Action Group is rolling out a new website www.fairthelines.org that blogs on all 6 input hearings to date, has links to the CRC website and other resources and has a 43 slide presentation on how to get active in the redistricting battle.
 
The progressives are dialed in... so far, the conservative base IS NOT.  The progressives are showing up at the input hearings... so far the conservative base IS NOT.
 
The stakes could not be higher.... if progressive activists get the lines they want... in 2012 Jerry Brown may have a veto proof legislature.

It is time for the conservatives to step up to the Redistricting Challenge. 

Tea Party Patriot influence is growing

Our local left leaning progressives dismissed the Tea Party Patriots as ineffective and inconsequential, soon to vanish from the scene just like the bell bottomed pants of the 1970s.  When that did not happen and they continue to cast aspersions on the Tea Party on our local lefty blogs, and it is articles like this one in the Washington Post that raises their blood pressure even more, launching yet again another attack in the Tea Party Patriots.  

A growing number of Democrats are threatening to defy the White House over the national debt, joining Republican calls for deficit cuts as a requirement for consenting to lift the country’s borrowing limit.

The tension is the latest illustration of how the tea-party-infused GOP is driving the debate in Washington over federal spending. And it shows how the debt issue is testing the Obama administration’s clout as Democrats, particularly those from politically competitive states, resist White House arguments against setting conditions on legislation to raise the debt ceiling.

Our Board of Supervisors Needs to Hear from You Concerning the Impact of the AtPac Lawsuit

It appears that there is a lot going on in our Nevada County government that is not transparent.  I'm talking about the lawsuit between Nevada County and AtPac, the former supplier of software to our County Clerk/Recorder's office.
 
Depositions recently made public show that the Clerk/Recorder's office shared AtPac's confidential software codes with their new software supplier, Aptitude Solutions, in violation of federal law.  That's why this case is in the federal courts.  To date, this lawsuit has cost you and me over $350,000 in legal fees, and the cost increases every week.  Documents show that the county could have avoided this problem before the lawsuit was filed.
 
Other depositions, taken under oath, have shown that documents were intentionally given to Aptitude Solutions under the direction of
 
the County Clerk/Recorders office.  These documents also show that management ordered documents to be destroyed so that they would not be available for the courts to view in this lawsuit. The county has already been fined $20,000 of our money for not providing some documents as ordered by the court.
 
The Board of Supervisors were warned in advance at a public meeting that this was going to happen and chose to ignore the pending problem.  Why?  I have no idea.  I spoke to one of the Board of Supervisors early on and was told that this was a nuisance lawsuit and would just go away.  Well, it hasn't!  Now the costs are skyrocketing and you and I will have to pay the bill.  How high will it go?  Nobody can answer that.  If the county loses this lawsuit, it is my understanding that we will also have to pay the attorney's fees for AtPac.
 
The costs to us, the taxpayers, could be more than one million dollars or more.

Flash in the pan Tea Party going corporate main stream

During the early formation days of the Tea Party our local lefties assured us that the Tea Party had no legs, they were just fad that would fade away once the November 2008 election was over.  It appears that they were wrong.

Now HarperCollins, a major book publisher, is pioneering a new imprint called Broadside Books, which will focus on Voices of the Tea Party, an e-book original series.  Details here.  When major corporations start making business decisions based on the existence and strength of the Tea Party, it would appear they are more than a fad, or a flash in the pan.

Our local left takes every opportunity to cast the Tea Party Patriots as ineffective and on the way out the door of history.  Yet, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid points to the House Members supported by the Tea Party as a cohesive group who are thwarting his legislative desires. Senator Chuck Schumer  is following his instructions from the Democratic Caucus to refer to Tea Party members as "extremists”.  The liberal press keeps pointing to the House and Senate members, who were supported by the Tea Party in the last November election, as a separate political force in Washington.

If the Tea Party is history, what is all the clamoring about in Washington?  Why are Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer so worried about the Tea Party?  Why is CNN trying to degrade the Tea Party with faux polls, if they are no longer politically important? Why does Fox News keep asking House and Senate Members supported by the Tea Party what is next? Why are Tea Party Patriot leaders being invited to be guests on Cable News shows?  Why are “Democratic Party leaders capitulating to the Tea Party and its demands,” a local lefty wants to know?

Exit Question:  Are the Tea Party Patriots becoming just a historical footnote as our local left whats them to be?

Over e-mail transom: A Progressive Tea Party in Nevada County?

Saturday was the first national action day for the US Uncut, which is patterned after a UK Group called UK UNCUT. This group has been responsible for the riots against banks and businesses in the UK to protest government welfare cuts.  More from the Nation:

The group, UK Uncut, has opposed government cuts, targeted companies accused of avoiding millions of pounds in taxes and taken its message far beyond the usual precincts of progressives. “The UK Uncut message is simple,” Hari wrote. “If you want to sell in our country, you pay our taxes. They are the membership fee for a civilized society.” This Saturday will see UK Uncut’s first national day of action with protesters expected to bring more than 30 branches of Barclays Bank to a standstill.

Around the country, cutbacks are being proposed and pushed through with great speed.

Progressive groups, inspired by recent events in Egypt and Wisconsin, are rising to the occasion and calling for a sane, reasoned, and equitable approach to the crisis at hand.

This new Nevada City Un Cut group demonstrated at Bank of America in downtown Nevada City on Saturday. The newly emerging US Uncut national organization planned autonomous, but coordinated actions in over 30 locations nationwide. Nevada City was one of those locations.

This sounds a lot like how the early Tea Party organizations got started. One difference is that the UK groups have resorted to violence against the banks and businesses, while the US Tea Party rallies have been totally peaceful.  In Wisconsin the violence was against government.

Below is our local lefty Torries irrational ranting against the Tea Party Patriots new web site here.  This rant just extends attacks made by this group of liberals about something they called dog-whistle racism on Rebane's Ruminations [see comments at RR and his latest post on the Liberal Mind.]. I had to go to Wikipedia to find out what dog-whistle racism was. It appears to me all this dog-whistle racism is in the heads of our hardcore liberals, they appear to be the only ones capable of decoding these faux dog-whistle messages with their superior intellect.  Flew right past me.

These liberals have only one weapon in their intellectual armory, that is to accuse the Tea Party Patriots of racism.  Even if it only appears in their own smarmy brains.  Now to the detail some of their ranting in the comments here. I want you to see what these intellectually superior Torries are thinking and writing about the Tea Party Patriots website, most likley without even reading what was written there by a black man in support of the Tea Party. Now the racist ranting:

Well, right off the bat, those cartoons! A psychologist would have a field day with these drawings.
The one of the black hand shoving a rather phallic looking object down a white man’s throat has serious homophobic hysteria overtones. Racist white men have historically been intimidated by the thought of the black man’s allegedly superior penis.Often these expressions often indicate a degree of fascination inconsistent with pure heterosexuality. Mr. Marcus has me wondering.
