Grassroots Slams Tax Compromise, Praises Halt to Pork-Laden Omnibus

Nevada County, CA - Today, the Tea Party Patriots warned Congress they are watching and following their votes closely, including last night's passage of the 'tax compromise' which violates tea party principles. The organization, that includes more than 3,000 locally affiliated groups around the country, launched a petition earlier this week (http://notaxcompromise.com/) denouncing the compromise forged in secret by the Obama Administration and Republican Leadership in Congress.

Tea Party Patriots, however, praised the efforts of grassroots Americans for helping stop the $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill in the Senate when Harry Reid was forced to pull the bill and concede defeat. Among other outrages, the bill included $1.4 billion in earmarks for Senators who won't be coming back in the new Congress because they retired or were defeated.

"Our members are outraged as our representatives continue to ignore the message
we sent on Election Day," said Stan Meckler of The Nevada County Tea Party Patriots "We are watching how they vote, and they will be held accountable."

"Last night, Republicans in Congress caved to the President and abandoned the principles upon which they were elected-and we will not forget," said Jenny Beth Martin, National Coordinator of Tea Party Patriots. "The plan was negotiated without the consultation of newly-elected Members of Congress or the American people and violated several components of the Republican's Pledge to America.'"

"Old guard politicians will not give up easily, and Reid hoped to ram $1.1 trillion dollars of pork laden spending down the throats of an angry populace by holding Christmas hostage," said Mark Meckler, National Coordinator of Tea Party Patriots. "It appears that no trick is too low for this career politician, and he's more than willing to play Grinch. But the Congress received a flood of phone calls, emails and faxes, and were turned away from the Christmas madness by the reason of the people. "But we must not rest. There is more madness to come, and they are just waiting for us to go to sleep. We will be vigilant and we will be watching!"

Should California reject strong conservatism for more RINOism?

Once again the political hand wringers at Calbuzz are advising California Republicans to reject the Tea Party, stop opposing the Democrats tax and spend policies and to adopt the green job myth to save California's economy. Details at the Sierra Foothills Report.

The party’s fixation on opposing everything the Democrats propose is hurting Republicans more than it is their opponents. The GOP should take the lead in advocating an economic rebound strategy that relies on Silicon Valley innovation, green jobs and high-tech research and development. The party could integrate this with increased exports for a growing agricultural sector and a healthy and expanding service economy.”

On the other hand remember all the hand wringing by those those smart “conservative” pundits after the 2008 election, arguing that the GOP had to moderate or else risk extinction?

We can see how well that strategy worked out in California.  If you start the election with RINOs, you wind up with RINOs, and independent voters soundly rejected Arnold in a skirt, who was just another RINO of a different gender. 

While across the Nation strong conservatives were elected to the House of Representative in huge numbers, some pundits are saying the 2010 midterm wins are only going re-enforce a silly notion that Republican can win big in 2012 without changing their conservative stripes?  Really?

While the know it all Calbuzz pundits and Jeff P are arguing that changing demographics mean conservatism will eventually go the way of the dodo bird. They are contend the only way Republicans can win in California is to ignore what happened across the rest of the nation and capitulate to the Democratic reality that we can tax and  spending our way to prosperity.  Really?

My thinking is more in line with Congressman McClintock, that some of the best 2012 campaign sound and video bites will to be created by Gov. Jerry Brown’s performance over the next two years.  Under the thumb of the unions Brown will be unable to stop the spending. He will have to raise taxes, to pay for the run away spending. He will continue to support going green while Republican’s in the House are pulling the alternative energy subsides, resulting in soaring energy costs and the destruction of the California economy.

Those mean Republican’s in Washington will reign in the EPA by cutting of their funding and restore water to the Central Valley so that California farmers can actually grow and export more of the State's agricultural products as suggested above. But, we need to make sure that Republicans get the credit and the resulting hispanic vote for restoring prosperity to the Central Valley.

It is not impossible for Republicans to get more of the hispanic votes in California. CNN exit polls revealed that across the nation a robust 38% voted for House Republicans. It was 30% in 2006 and 29% in 2008.  Not huge, but headed in the right direction,  a trend that can be expanded on in 2012,  once it is clear that Brown and the Democrats cannot save California from economic destruction. 

Exit question: Should Republican's follow the Tea Party Patriots to success, or try to be more like tax and spend Democrats?

“Inside the Green Bubble”

My vague expectations in attending this Conference were to  learn what –if any–progress has been made in green, clean energy industries in CA, as well as how these activities relate to the sad state of business and the economy of our area. Also I hoped to hear what the future holds for real growth in the vitality of our State.

To summarize this 2-day meeting, I will start with my impression that the 1,500 attendees were uniformly of one mind even though they came from different nations and inclinations. In evidence were government employees, academics and socially inclined groups. All speakers were greeted with great enthusiasm— “feelgoodism” was in the air. A rowdy cheer was prompted by the announcement of victory over Prop 23.

The main substance of this event was the discussion of R20 and the signing of “the first ever Charter for Regions of Climate Action.” (It is important to note that the term Global Warming is no longer a preferred buzzword.  We’ll be hearing Climate Action and Climate Change instead.) The concept of R20 was conceived in Copenhagen in 2009 and the plan is just getting started. It involves a worldwide effort to share new approach to a “clean environment.”

The real villain is now Climate Change, which must be controlled in order to eliminate severe weather such as floods, droughts, sea level changes, hurricanes, disappearing shorelines, etc. This will be accomplished by eliminating greenhouse gas emissions and by going to low carbon policies. Their approach will be regional rather than national to avoid conflicts and inaction by large powers. The plan considers CA a sub-nation ready to act independently from US and other governments. The vision involves full cooperation between developing and more developed countries.

And who pays for all this? The plan is to appeal to public and private resources as well as the venture capital of the world. The promise is that everyone will profit in a big way. At the same time, there will be enormous savings in energy, water, raw materials since all will be used in a more conservative way. New technologies are necessarily part of R20 and are sure to come.

To be noted, all these proposals, plans and goals were presented in a superficial, qualitative and descriptive way without the benefit of numerical analysis or data. The one verifiable topic came from Dr. Art Rosenfeld who spoke about white roofs on buildings.

Science and technology were not present in the talks; opposite ideas or questions were absent and debate was not obvious. Any improvements in current means of energy production were ignored in favor of upcoming but unproven processes, like biomass and biofuels.  Missing also were financial details and how much investment will be required throughout the world. It appeared that joblessness, slow growth and uncertainty about our economic/financial future were not a concern.

In view of the severity and complexity of current problems in the world, we are of the opinion that the expectation of a complete transformation of the civilized world to a “green” economy without climate problems is beyond reality. The only distant vision at this time is a transfer of wealth like no one has ever seen.

Tea Party Patriot Update: We the People’s Forty Year Plan (Updated)

Ellen and I attended the Tea Party Patriots Post Election Celebration at the Grass Valley Elks Hall last night and sat with our good friends George and JoAnn Rebane’s. (See George's post on the party at Ruminations.) It was an opportunity to say hello to old friends and meet new members of a growing throng of like minded people. It was a packed house.

The highlight of the evening was a 20 minute video by Mark Meckler who outlined the Tea Party Patriots’ Forty Year Plan. Yes, four zero plan, ten four year presidential election cycles.  As Mark explained it took us 40 years for us to get in to our current political mess and it will take forty more for a full recovery from liberals and their progressive agenda.  As Mark said, "We are not going way"

The TPP Forty Year Plan has four specific themes and goals (paraphrasing from my notes):

        Education: Remove the teachers that are filled out children’s head with the liberal/progressive philosophy and ideas.  This will not happen over night, but will happen over the next 40 year as a new generation of teachers enters the classroom.  

        Political: Creating an accountable government by electing  right minded people and then monitoring them to insure that they follow the TPP principles and actually read the bills they are signing and voting on.  This is a local, state and national level activity, including boards and commissions, the city councils, the supervisors, state office holders and then Congress and the Presidency. Accountability will be an ongoing process at all levels for the next 40 years. Those failing to meet the TPP standards will be voted out of office.

        Judiciary:  The TPP is developing a tool set to monitor and rate judicial performance. A method for judging the judges under consideration for a higher court and for their performance once selected to a higher bench.  These rating will help select the best judges at election time.

        Culture:  This is a long term effort to support those artists and performers who support the Tea Party values, and leave on the shelf the products of those artist and performers that offend TPP values, letting the market correct the course we are on now.

To do the monitoring, analysis and coordination necessary the TPP team is building a tool set for poll watching, voter fraud detection, and they are creating a rapid reaction legal team of a 100 lawyers to respond when fraud is suspected. The TPP has grown from 49 chapters in 2009, to over 2,800 chapters in small towns and large cities across the nation in 2010 with several million members. One of the tools sets will be to improve communication between the chapters, enabling regional cooperation.

Mark's final message was to stay engaged, to call, fax, e-mail, and snail mail our elected representative to let them know when they are doing a good job and when they are not meeting the our expectations.  The TPP is a movement of individuals acting is unison, so we each have a roll in returning the power of government to the people.  We are all Tea Party Patriots leaders and must take responsibility to our future.

Although this was a video presentation, there was applause from the audience when each of the four themes was introduced, with sustained applause for the judiciary and culture.  Change is in the air!

Tea Party Patriot Update: Why There are No New Jobs in America!

Porter Stansberry a well-known successful entrepreneur has some thoughts on job creation in American in the 8 November November Tea Party Patriots Newsletter here.

While these thoughts are addressed to America, they certainly applicable to California, even more so as we have many more layers of regulations that an entrepreneur must hurdle before they can create a successful business in California. 

Tea Party Update: Holding the winners feet to the fire

How the real battle begins. This came in a Tea Party Patriots Newsletter this morning:

Tea Party Patriots is launching a Perpetual Legislative Watch/Congressional Accountability Project. We have already been watching the legislators for the past 20 months. We have no intention of letting up now. On the weekend of November 12 - 14, local coordinators from around the country will meet with the incoming Congressional freshmen for an orientation. We will have legislative experts who will guide the freshmen on how to first defund and ultimately repeal government controlled health care. We will have economic experts to help them understand the things they will need to do to reduce the federal deficit and restore fiscal sanity to the country. We will have experts who can provide guidance on how to restore Constitutional governance to the country. We will help them to bond together to restore the Constitution in the upcoming legislative session. Finally, we want them to know that if they do the right thing, they will have the support of the people.

The Tea Party is not going way, it is going to get stronger. In addition to the above actions Tea Party members have also moved in to a lot of precinct and state-committee posts. We’ll see more of them over the next couple of years, especially at the state level where redistricting will be one of the major local issues in 2011. Stay Tuned.

Green Energy Industry in California is doing fine without AB32

Even AB32 supporters admit that there is no way to estimate any climate impact if AB32 goes into effect.  In fact, most of us believe, given the faulty data supporting man made global warning theory, AB32 will have no impact on the climate whatsoever.

The next argument from AB32 supporters is that it will create thousands of ‘green’ jobs.  They make it sound as though there is no alternative energy industry in California at all.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Today, there is a very healthy multi-billion dollar green energy industry in California supported by current Government and Utility energy incentives and private sector capital investment.  For example, according to the California Energy Commission (www.gosolarcalifornia.org ), there are 68,465 solar projects in California right now!

AB32 is nothing more than another unnecessary wasteful government program that will impose an outrageous financial burden on families and small businesses throughout California.  Proposition 23 provides a very reasonable way to stop the looming economic disaster presented by AB32.

Prop 23 Update: Tea Party rallies to support Proposition 23 today

The Sac Bee Capitol Alert has this note on Prop 23 demonstrations today

YES ON 23: Members of the Northern California Tea Party Patriots join Jon Coupal, president of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, and Betty Plowman, president of the California Dump Truck Association, to protest the California Air Resources Board and back Proposition 23 to suspend AB 32, the state's greenhouse-gas reduction law. The rally and march starts at noon at Cesar Chavez Park, 10th and I streets, across the street from the board's offices.

NO ON 23: Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson joins Larry Greene, executive director of the Sacramento Air Quality Management District, and others to urge voters to reject Proposition 23. Their news conference starts at 1:30 p.m. at the Green Living Center, 919 20th St., Sacramento.

Nevada County Tea Party Patriots win $10K Grant

A few weeks ago, an anonymous donor made a donation of $1 million to our national leadership.  This donation specified that all the money must be distributed to the local organizations and was not be used by the national TPP.  It also stipulated that each local organization in California could submit a grant application and specify how the monies, if granted, would be used to "get out the vote" and for no other purpose.  The grant application was very detailed and required us to provide very specific information.
 
The Nevada County Tea party Patriots submitted our application for the grant on September 28, 2010.  Prior to the announcement of the $1 million donation, the Nevada County Tea Party Patriots had begun our own "get out the vote" campaign on KNCO radio using our own membership to make the commercials.
 
This morning, 10/08/10 we received notice that our grant application had been accepted and that $10,000 would be transferred to the NCTPP account.  Every cent of this money will be spent here in Nevada County at KNCO, The Union, Grass Valley Sign and others.
 
We believe that voting for whomever or whatever you choose, is the most sacred duty we have as citizens of this great country.  Let's make this the largest turnout in Nevada County's history.
